Back to Erhards Flying Life

Please be patient - this page has a lot of pictures..... I split it in several parts Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7

This was probably the most memorable of the trips I took with Werner Stadtkowitz' "German Eagles".  The scenery is breathtaking ....

I was sharing a Piper Arrow (ZS-RER) with Armin and his wife. With few exceptions, the airfields were at above 5000ft which made the take-offs and climbs with 3 people plus luggage on board sometimes quite interesting. Again, I had to leave the group at about 3 quarters of trip at Plettenberg on South Africa's Garden Coast, mainly due to business.

Briefing Preflight
My Co-Flyers Checkride. Is this a final or what - in an Arrow at 120 kts ? I was remembering the rides in Australia !! Anyway, I was sitting in the back
Some impressions of Pretoria The first stop was Pietersburg - supposed to be the exit point for South Africa to Botswana. My co-flyer was emptying the plane looking for his passport
So while the group was getting ready to fly to the Okawango Delta

we were getting ready to fly back to Pretoria to get a replacement passport- Christine waiting patiently....
close to Pretoria faithful companions - the Garmins (we had 2 of them)
after an intermediate stop for customs clearance at Makifeng

finally approaching Gabarone in Botswana

fill up before the night comes and yours truly finally had the chance to have a smoke...

On to Part 2
